Panoramic view of the Souli mountain region

This is the area where the Souli Villages lie.
It is from here the Souli women fled to escape Ali Pasha's army, 
they moved south and eventually danced with their children over the cliff 
to their deaths rather than be captured by the invading soldiers.
You can see the monument to these brave women in the Zagori area
to the South near Arta, the city of bridges.
You can visit the Souli Villages area quite easily, first take a trip to the village of Gliki 
and follow the river Acheron to the Springs, which are the source of the river.
Here you can enjoy the wildlife and paddle in the crystal clear waters of the river.
You can picnic under the olive trees or eat a leisurely lunch in one of the tavernas 
along the waters edge. 
When you leave Gliki you take a very sharp right turn which will take you 
through the most beautiful mountain areas and on to the villages. Here you will step back in time, life is peaceful and calm. Stop for a coffee in one of the little bars, but expect to wait until the card game 
between the owner and his friends has finished first. We thoroughly recommend a trip to the Souli area.
